BEAUMONT —
Several area musicians have come together for a very worthy cause taking place in Beaumont this Sunday.
The second annual “Band Together for Autism” fundraiser event will take place from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 7, at The Elks Lodge, located off Highway 90 in Beaumont. All proceeds from the “Band Together for Autism” event go to Autism Support of Southeast Texas (ASSET).
Organizer Beneal House says this event is very close to her heart, and many other families, in Southeast Texas.
“This is important to me because I have a 9-year-old son with autism,” House said. “We want to raise this money for ASSET because they pay for activities for families. Every year we go to Moody Gardens, but this year we couldn’t because there wasn’t enough money for the trip. Funding is low right now, so that’s one reason we are doing this event.”
Artists scheduled to perform include Branko Nastasich, better known as Bronco Jr., along with Bill Bloss and Toni Mathis, Donnie Courville, Bryce Shaver, Sargent Doobie, Joey Culver and Wayne Dylan. More artists could join the growing list.
Barbecue plats with boudain, links and all the fixings will be available, as well as pizza, a bake sale and “other goodies.” An auction and raffle will also keep guests excited as several valuable prizes are awarded. There will also be a moonwalk for children.
Admission is free, and T-shirts will also be on sale.
