ORANGE — A dispatcher with the Orange Police Department said an explosion was reported at about 9 a.m. Sunday at Signal International in Orange.
One person was reportedly taken to the hospital by helicopter.
Jerry Ziller with the Orange Fire Department reported to www.12newsnow.com the injured person suffered severe injuries after a large air bag used to move barges exploded. It was reported the person was alert while being taken to the hospital.
Site managers are not expected to discuss the event until Monday.
Signal's Orange division, located on Front St., specializes in the manufacturing of vessels and other structures. The facility is located on 77 acres of land.
