GROVES — The Groves Police Department reported a man who was killed in a shooting Monday night has been identified as a 25-year-old Nederland resident.
Cody Charles Hokett of Nederland has been reported by Groves officers as the man killed in the 3100 block of Cleveland Ave. in Groves.
Officers say when they arrived to the location they found Hokett wiht a gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett.
The department reported investigators quickly identified John Mason Broadway, 25, as a person of interest and that he was later arrested and charged with murder.
Broadway reportedly lives at the address of the shooting and officers say they found a shotgun at the scene of the crime. It is believed to be the murder weapon.
Broadway was still awaiting arraignment and for his bond to be set as of 3:15 p.m. Tuesday while being held at the Jefferson County Jail.
