OPD puts robbery suspects behind bars

Captain thanks public for tips following release of video

ORANGE — The Orange Police Department continued its run of catching thieves on Thursdays by sending two men to the Orange County Jail.

Eliziah Paul Collins and Devon Wykie Watson, both 20, were charged with aggravated robbery after officers indentified the men after reviewing video from a store in the 1600 block of Park Ave.

The two are charged with robbing the Cypress Plaza No. 3 store on Wednesday.

Officers were told by the clerk of the store a black male wearing all black clothing came into the store and pointed a small caliber weapon and demanded cash. The clerk also reported to officers another black male wearing a black and white hat, black shirt and gray pants stood at the door of the store to watch for any customers to come in.

Officers were able to quickly find the two men after the positive identification and one of the suspects made it real easy for an arrest to be made.

It was reported to The Leader Friday that one of the men was still wearing the same clothes he was wearing during the robbery as seen on video.

Capt. Cliff Hargrave with OPD also reported residents once again called in with tips on where to locate the suspects after viewing a video of the robbery released by OPD. The video was published at www.orangeleader.com along with a video last week of a burglary at Capital One Bank.

Elizabeth Hardin was arrested last Thursday night  at the Executive Inn Hotel in Orange. Police issued the warrant for Hardin after receiving multiple tips following the release of video footage of her alleged robberies.

Hardin was still behind bars as of Friday afternoon.
