ORANGE —
Two Orange County educators have turned themselves in on charges of having an improper relationship with students after both were indicted Wednesday.
Valerie Danielle Sonnier, 30 of Orange, was indicted for improper relationship between educator and student/sexual assault and after turning herself in, bond was set at $20,000.
Sonnier worked at Community Christian School and Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies first learned of the allegations on Oct. 1.
Michael David Shugart Jr., 35, worked at Little Cypress Junior High School and the alleged incident involved a student at Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School. The allegations were first reported on Sept. 4. LC-M CISD offcials reported to investigators Shugart had been with the district for 16 days at the time of the incident and had resigned after the information surfaced to officials.
