Sporting Clay Shoot
The Samaritan Counseling Center of Southeast Texas will hold a benefit to raise money for children and youth in crisis situations starting at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at the 1 in One Hundred Gun Club, 1228 FM 421 Road in Lumberton. Sponsors and participants can give financial support to young people in crisis situations while enjoying an exciting sporting event.

Community Trash Off
The 18th Annual Community Trash Off will be held from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9. Participants will meet at Orange Lions Den Park. Teams consist of 3-5 participants and are limited to adults and children age 12 and older. All teams must be supervised by an adult. Green Thumb Series
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension of Orange County is holding the 2nd group of classes in the Green Thumb Series called Plant Propagation and Botany. The topics of this series are: Plant Categories and Plant Processes; Plant Parts and Functions; Flowers, Fruits, Seeds, and Germination; Environmental Factors; and Plant Nutrition and Hormones. These classes are being held at the Mauriceville Community Center (Crawfish Festival Grounds) from 6 pm to 8 pm. Classes are as scheduled: February 26, March 5, March 19, and March 26. Senior Citizen Computer Classes
Lamar State College-Orange is offering free computer classes for senior citizens, ages 55 and older, from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 13, in the Wilson Building, Room 133, 506 Green Ave. in Orange. Course is designed for individuals who have never used a computer. Learn to turn on computer, navigate with a mouse, open programs, play games, surf the Internet, set up an e-mail account and send e-mail with attachments. 4-H Shooting Sports
Orange County 4-H shooting sports has a new club manager, Wayne Walker, who also announced that Colby Buckle will be the club manager for the new rifle club. Dinner Theater
First United Methodist Church invites the public to “Love Never Dies,” a Valentine dinner theater event on Friday, Feb. 15, in the Praise Center. Dinner will be served by the Orange County United Methodist Men and some of the greatest love songs ever written will be performed by the cast. Tickets are $25. Mystery Dinner Theater
The Bridge City Chamber of Commerce is holding its 3rd annual Mystery Dinner Threatre “Reading Aunt Louise’s Will", Friday, Feb. 15 and Saturday, Feb. 16. Cost for the Feb. 15 show for all ages is $20 per person and $150 per table of 8, which includes dinner and drinks (no alcohol). GED Test Dates
Vidor ISD announces that GED tests are changing beginning in January 2014. Those who are currently working on the test process must complete it in 2013 or start the process over from the beginning. The 2013 test dates for GED at the AIM Center High School are Feb. 20 and Feb. 21, and March 20 and March 21. Dates are subject to change, and more dates will be held each following month, so check with the testing centers at 951-8780. Examinees are expected to arrive on time. Testing begins promptly at 4:30 p.m. Doors will be locked at that time. Tutoring for the GED is also available in Vidor ISD. Call AIM Center High School for further information.
