BCISD staff to visit students’ homes
Faculty and staff from Bridge City ISD will hit the streets on Tuesday, Aug. 14 to visit with students at their homes and deliever information on the upcoming school year. Campus newsletters, school supply lists, school calendars, forms and other important dates will be handed out. The visits will start at about 5 p.m. with the plan being to deliver the packet and answer questions about the start of school. Those with questions can call (409)735-1501.
TX LA Country Cousins

Diabetes Education
Texas AgriLife Extension Orange County will be offering Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes Classes for adults with Type 2 Diabetes from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m., every Thursday, beginning Aug. 9 through Sept. 27 on the fifth floor classroom at Baptist Hospital Orange. Kick off Breakfast
Orange Savings Bank will host a United Way of Orange County Kickoff Breakfast at 7 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23 at First Presbyterian Church Gillespie Center, located at the corner of 9th and Green Ave. The breakfast is for industry management, their campaign chairs and co-chairs, as well as United Way agency executive directors and their board presidents.

Orange Boat Club River Run
The Orange Boat Club located at 2206 Dupont drive will celebrate their annual River Run on Saturday, Aug. 25. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and the first stop will begin at 11 a.m.. There will be 2 stops at homes along Cow Bayou and one on a sandbar. Members and invited guests are welcomed. The cost is $25 and includes your stops, meal and poker hand. Come join the fun, games, food, drawings, and entertainment. Due to parking limitations please use our ramp at Lottie's to launch your boat. If you must launch from the Boat Club please park your tralers in the grass areas.

Benefit dance volunteers needed
A benefit dance for the Huntington Disease Society of America will be at the V.F.W hall in Orange on September 8, from 7 to 11 pm. The Aaron Chesson and The Bayou City Rollers band will be playing. Proceds will go to the Huntington Disease Society for research and awareness of this terminal disease. LCM CISD Dyslexia Program
In an attempt to meet the needs of all of our parents, two meetings are scheduled at the Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD Education Center (at the Special Programs building on the corner of MLK and FM 1130) on Thursday, September 13, to provide parent training on the characteristics of dyslexia. The morning meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The afternoon meeting will be held from 5:30 pm to 7 p.m. Information provided will include: awareness of characteristics of dyslexia and related disorders; information on testing and diagnosis of dyslexia; information on effective strategies for teaching dyslexic students; and awareness of information on modification, especially modifications allowed on standardized testing.
