BEAUMONT —
The Symphony of Southeast Texas’ next concert is going to be a trifecta of excellence.
The Symphony of Southeast Texas (SOST) will celebrate its three score anniversary, or 60 years, by performing three scores of music from some of the greatest composers in music history. Performances will include Bach’s “Brandenburg Concerto No. 3” and the Beethoven “Triple Concerto,” which features three soloists.
The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, inside the Julie Rogers Theatre in downtown Beaumont. A pre-concert discussion held by Music Director Chelsea Tipton will begin at 6:30 p.m., and all guests are invited to arrive early. Tickets are $15-$36 and student and group discounts are available by calling 409-892-2257 or visiting www.sost.org for more information.
“The program for this concert turned out to be so perfect for this 60th season celebration,” said SOST Music Director Chelsea Tipton. “I am so excited for people to experience the rarity of the Bach Concerto being performed by a full orchestra and the Beethoven Triple Concerto with these world-class soloists.”
The guest soloists are Frank Huang on violin, concertmaster of the Houston Symphony; Brinton Averil Smith on cello, principal cellist in the Houston Symphony; and Jon Kimura Parker on piano, an internationally acclaimed concert pianist. They are all members of the faculty at The Shepard School of Music at Rice University. These three represent an extremely high level of talent, and the SOST is thrilled to be able to bring them to Beaumont.
