Orange Chapter NAACP to hold community gathering

ORANGE — The Orange Chapter National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will be hosting a Community Gathering on Dec. 27, at 6:30 p.m.  The event will be held at the Mount Olive Baptist Church Life Center at 106 West Park in Orange.

Newly elected officers are hosting the gathering to revitalize their chapter and unify the community.

The Orange Chapter NAACP wants to go beyond their vision of ensuring a society in which all individuals have equal rights without discrimination based on race, and also work to create an environment of equality, success, pride and opportunity in the Orange community.  The chapter hopes this community gathering will spark a renewal of coherence for the citizens of Orange.

The gathering is strategically being held on Dec. 27, also known as Kujichagulia or Day of Self-Determination, which is the

second day Kwanzaa.

In addition to the focus on self-determination within the minority community of Orange, the gathering will also provide employment information for local businesses, money availability by means of local programs, and an abundance of impactful knowledge.

Future chapter events will also be shared at the gathering.  Food and entertainment will be provided.  Admission is $10.

Tickets can be purchased at ComproTax located at 1502 West Park Avenue and also available at several local churches.

Tickets will be available at the door.
